Psychoeducational Evaluations and Consultations
A psychoeducational evaluation is a comprehensive assessment of an individual’s cognitive profile, academic achievement, and social, emotional, and behavioral functioning.
I provide Psychoeducational evaluations that are comprehensive, individualized, and neuropsychological-based. An evaluation can help to reveal the following:
Dyslexia/Dysgraphia/Dyscalculia
Learning Disability
Non-verbal Learning Disability
Possible Autism Spectrum Disorder (which requires further evaluation)
Executive Functioning Deficits
Anxiety
Depression
OCD
Other Mental Health Issues
My evaluations include assessment of:
Language Ability
Reasoning Ability
Information Processing Abilities (i.e. Working Memory, Long-term Retrieval, Processing Speed)
Attention
Executive Functioning
Academic Functioning
Social/Emotional/Behavioral Functioning
Why my evaluations are different:
My evaluations are very thorough. I individualize the evaluation and create individualized plans for each client.
I do not evaluate for just one diagnosis. I look at all areas of cognitive, academic, and social/emotional/behavioral functioning in order to make a valid and appropriate diagnosis or diagnoses. There are times when diagnoses are not a result of the evaluation; however, I will still provide detailed information about the individual’s strengths and weaknesses and devise a plan to help the individual be successful in all areas of functioning.
I am the only provider working with your child. I do not use interns for evaluations.
Evaluations can lead to Accommodations for the Following:
Public School Setting - 504 Plan/IEP
Private School Setting
College Setting
Law School/Medical School/Graduate School
SAT/ACT/GRE/LSAT/MCAT
BAR exam
How soon can I get in?
I strive to keep my waiting list down to two to three weeks and am usually able to give my clients results within two weeks after the completion of testing.
Do you take insurance?
I do not accept insurance directly. However, I can provide you with codes for you to file for out-of-network reimbursement.
What is the process?
The process begins with a ninety-minute initial consultation. During the consultation, I will gather important background information about you or your child. You will be able to learn more about what a psychoeducational evaluation is all about and how it may help you or your child. If, after the initial consultation, a psychoeducational evaluation is recommended and you wish to proceed with an evaluation, you can schedule testing appointments that are most convenient for you or your child.
If you already know you would like to schedule an evaluation you can schedule that immediately.
Based on the results of the evaluation, I will customize an intervention plan tailored for you or your child’s specific needs. Intervention recommendations may include tutoring, school-based accommodations (i.e., extended time on tests and assignments, preferential seating, sensory breaks, assistance with note-taking, alternate testing locations, early college registration, foreign language or math waivers), extended time on entrance exams (i.e., SAT, ACT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, Bar Exam), speech and language therapy, ADHD coaching, parenting support, counseling, and/or referrals to other professionals in the community (i.e., occupational therapists, ABA therapists, parenting specialists, psychiatrists, physicians).
I am also available to consult with other professionals in the community.
